Born and bred in Stockholm, Sweden, Annika picked up a stills camera in school at the age of 12 and her passion for creating images has never left her.

Her first job in the UK was as an office runner for Michael Winterbottom at Revolution Films but soon realised it was in lighting she needed to be and got a job as a lighting trainee. She went on to spark for several years which gave her invaluable experience in the lighting department, and also led to working for cinematography legend Christopher Doyle.

Annika got accepted into UK's prestigious National Film & Television School NFTS, where she completed a 2 year MA with her graduation film Until The River Runs Red, which won the short film BAFTA that same year.

She is now based in North London but works worldwide in long form and commercials. She has recently proudly received the SUE GIBSON CINEMATOGRAPHY AWARD for her work on Mogul Mowgli starring Riz Ahmed, which also picked up 7 BIFA 2021 nominations, including one for best cinematography and a BAFTA nomination for Best British Film 2021.

She’s a full member of the BSC.

Feature film credits include BFI funded Postcards From London with Harris Dickinson, BBC rap-battle feature VS. With Connor Swindells and psychological thriller Censor (BFI/Film4/Film Wales) which was shot on 35mm and premiered in Sundance January 2021. Censor got 8 nominations at BIFA, including one for best cinematography. Her latest feature which was shot in Norway and based on the best selling book Hør Her’a, opened Norway’s main film festival in August 2023.

HETV-wise her credits include setting up Sky TV series Then You Run shooting episodes 1-3 in Berlin; 10 episodes of drama comedy Breeders starring Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard; 4 episodes of Wedding Season for Disney+ (in the UK and LA) and 4 eps of critically acclaimed Baby Reindeer for Netflix.

Dope Girls for BBC starring Julianne Nicholson and Ludwig with David Mitchell are both in post and she’s currently in prep on Apple TV show Larkin.

When not shooting she’s relaxing in her wooden lake house in Sweden.
